Cover Letter

Dear Employer,

I am writing to share my interest in an opportunity to work for you. With growing up on my family’s dairy farm, attending my county fair, attending the Pennsylvania Farm Show, and helping with related events and organizations, I have grown to know Pennsylvania agriculture and become more knowledgeable about a variety of topics and programs. The agriculture industry plays such a vital role in the everyday life of society, and many citizens do not know the industry, but they may want to better understand it and support it.

I feel that I am qualified to work with you because I have learned an array of skills through real-world experiences, hands-on projects, classroom guidance, life experience, and both of my internships at Berks Nature and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, which I did in the summer of 2016 and the spring of 2017. I was involved in the 4-H program for nine years showing dairy cattle, doing a variety of craft projects, as well as, attending county, state, and national conferences. Officially, I was involved in the Dairy Princess Promotion Program for five years and helped with county and state promotions, including the Pennsylvania Farm Show and Penn State Ag Progress Days.

With my knowledge of a variety of programs and acquiring relevant skills, I feel that I can be an asset to your organization. I can be flexible, adaptable, and am willing to learn and expand my knowledge, as well. I am efficient with working in the Adobe suite and Microsoft programs. I have written articles for a myriad of audiences from rural citizens to urban citizens to those of all ages.

I would enjoy the opportunity to speak with you further about a position with you and I would be happy to provide my references upon request.

Sincerely,

Mikaileigh S. Baker
